Tested by Maggie, our Junior Tester – a one-year-old apricot Labradoodle with a soft curly coat, a teddy-bear face and a pulling habit that develops rapidly when she spots another dog at any distance. The Reflective Set in Black M was fitted on a Tuesday morning. The snap buckle closed in one click; the adjustment buckle was set in under a minute; the fit was confirmed by the two-finger test at the chest. The A-ring was used for the first five minutes of a walk past a school at drop-off time – three encounters with other dogs, three controlled redirections, no dragging on the lead, no slipping out of the harness on any occasion. The top handle was gripped once at a road crossing and gave immediate, confident control. The reflective stripes were checked on a dusk walk and caught headlights at forty metres; the braided lead threads caught them at thirty. The lead handle foam stayed in shape across ten walks and showed no compression. The harness lining showed no marks on Maggie’s coat after two weeks of daily wear.

Her verdict: she pulled less on the A-ring attachment in week two than week one, which is either the harness working or a coincidence, and either interpretation is acceptable.

Her verdict: she looked for it on day six before the lead was on, which means it has been successfully absorbed into the walk routine.
